S.W. Smith Library awarded MCCF grant for Senior Lunch & Learn

The McKean County Community Foundation (MCCF) is pleased to announce the awarding of a grant for $600 from the Joe DeMott Port Allegany Community Development Fund which is administered by the Foundation. The grant was awarded to the Samuel W. Smith Memorial Public Library to fund four Senior Lunch & Learn events from September-December 2022.

The Senior Lunch & Learn is a program for Seniors age 60 or older which includes a free lunch and an educational program. Upcoming fall programs include a presentation by Judy Evens on Port Allegany History and a program on Woodhicks by Jennifer Haines from the Pennsylvania Lumber Museum. The library plans to announce a complete fall schedule soon with information on program dates, times and registration requirements. Attendees must register their attendance for each date with the library. Eddie’s on Main has agreed to cater and host lunch in the BoardRoom.

In 2019, Joe DeMott was actually a presenter of a Lunch & Learn program on the History of Early PA. The Joe DeMott Port Allegany Community Development Fund was renamed for their Board Member, Joe DeMott, who passed away in December, 2020. The fund was originally established by Joe and his wife Sue as the Port Allegany Community Development Fund to benefit the Port Allegany area for generations to come.
