The McKean County Community Foundation (MCCF) is pleased to announce the awarding of the 2022 Bradford Area Fire Departments Scholarship for $1,000 to Olivia Angell, graduating senior at Bradford Area High School. The award was presented by representatives of the fire departments, Steph Schivo and Greg Lewis. This fund is one of the 42 scholarship funds distributed by MCCF each year to McKean County students.

This scholarship was established at MCCF in 2020 after Bradford City, Lewis Run, Rew, Derrick City, Bradford Township and Corydon Township Fire Departments came together to fund this scholarship as a way to involve the younger generation with the volunteer fire service. With the steady decline of volunteers, it is imperative that more awareness is given to this issue. This scholarship recognizes the service of local Junior members of VF departments and the children or grandchildren of an active member in good standing. By offering this scholarship it expresses the appreciation for the time and work the members have committed to keeping their communities safe.

MCCF provides the administrative and investment management services that make it easy for donors to accomplish their charitable wishes by establishing donor advised, scholarship, and other types of funds at the Foundation. The Community Foundation of the Northern Alleghenies is the parent company of the McKean County Community Foundation and the Elk County Community Foundation.
