The McKean County Community Foundation (MCCF) is proud to offer competitive grant opportunities that support projects and programs making a meaningful difference throughout McKean County.
These grants are made possible through the generosity of individuals, families, and organizations who have established charitable funds to strengthen our communities and create lasting impact.
Each grant opportunity has its own purpose, eligibility requirements, funding priorities, and application timeline. We invite you to explore the opportunities below and learn how these funds are helping improve the quality of life across McKean County—today and for generations to come.
The McKean County Community FundFocus
The Foundation generally looks to support community development initiatives that will enhance the economic and community wellbeing of McKean County. Distribution from the grants can be used to meet special project or program needs of organizations serving the people of McKean County. The Foundation encourages organizations that will serve a particular need of the community and will make a lasting impact on the overall community to apply. The Foundation seeks to fund projects or activities that will serve the needs of many in the community rather than the needs of a few individuals. Projects should include activities that are innovative and have a plan to be sustained themselves.

Our Legacy FundOur Legacy Fund is dedicated to supporting and empowering nonprofit organizations through strategic financial contributions. The mission is to foster impactful social change, advance equity, encourage sustainability within our communities, and identify unmet needs to ensure communities can thrive, by partnering with nonprofits that demonstrate effective solutions to critical issues.
Grants are available to any school, municipality, faith-based or nonprofit 501c3 organization that serves our communities.
Apply for a Grant: Grant Applications will be accepted starting May 1, 2026 and will close on Friday, May 29 for the current granting cycle.
There will be an additional granting cycle starting October 1, 2026. Deadline to submit applications is October 31, 2026.
The Early Childhood Development Fund supports emergency scholarships for children attending licensed early learning programs and childcare programs. Funds will help ensure continued access to these programs for families in financial need or for families whose circumstances change necessitating assistance in meeting the costs of early childhood programs. These scholarships are to provide emergency assistance to ensure that children are able to maintain their enrollment in Early Learning or Child Care programs.
Applications will NOT be accepted directly from families. Applications MUST be submitted by the provider. Awards are made on a rolling basis.
The following criteria must be met:
1. The family must reside in McKean County and attend a program located in McKean County.
2. Eligible children must be aged birth to five years old.
Early Childhood Development Fund Application
The Joe DeMott Port Allegany Community Development FundThe Joe DeMott Port Allegany Community Development Fund was renamed by the McKean County Community Foundation in memory of Board Member, Joe DeMott, who passed away in December, 2020. The fund was originally established by Joe and his wife Sue as the Port Allegany Community Development Fund to benefit the Port Allegany area for generations to come.
Grants from this fund are available to 501c3 organizations, schools, municipalities, or religious organizations that serve the public. The fund supports projects that encourage the arts, community development, education, environment, or health and social services within the Port Allegany School District.

Women’s Giving Circle of McKean Grant Cycle is open each FallWomen’s Giving Circle of McKean is a society of philanthropists who work collectively to address and support issues that are important to women. The group strives to educate, encourage, and expand the number of women committed to philanthropy in order to strengthen our community by providing funds and assistance to issues that are important to families. The Women’s Giving Circle Fund welcomes applicants as part of its mission to provide funding for projects that have the most impact for the families in our communities.
